A letter from Samuel who lives in this western town, informs Violet about an inheritance of acres of land with a house and a church from her deceased granddaddy.

An answer to a prayer, she relocates her family to that town hiding her past. This was her only option in order to get her younger brother, also a minister, and her mother out of the filth and stench of New York City.

Trouble follows when Samuel meets Violet and falls in love. Visiting the pastor in Granite City, a neighboring town where she relocated to, he discovers that the new physician Dr. Bennie and Violet have fallen in love. His anger overwhelms him. He believes she is meant for him.

Since being privy to the new doctor’s secret, he uses the biggest blabbermouth to spread gossip creating a scandal. Now to save Dr. Bennie when he is forced to explain all to the town, Violet will need to help him by confessing her secret too.

What a conundrum! Will the townsfolk let the two of them stay or force them to leave?
